To determine how much concrete you need:

...you need to calculate the volume (measured in cubic metres) of concrete required. This performed by measuring the length (L), width (W), and depth (D) or radius (R) of the area to be filled and multiplying them.

To assist you in this working this out, you can use our Concrete Calculator. This will help you to calculate/estimate how much concrete you need for your project.

Note: It is good practice to add 5-10% extra to account for spillage or irregularities.

Please provide us with more details (below and we'll be happy to help you to determine how much concrete you require.

What type of concrete to use?

For general home projects like driveways, patios, or walkways, a standard mix (like 3,000-4,000 PSI) works well.

For heavier loads (like garage floors), consider a stronger mix (4,000-5,000 PSI).

If you’re building outdoor steps or a foundation, a high-strength mix is recommended.

Please provide us with more details and we'll be happy to provide you with specific guidance based on your needs.

How do I prepare the site for pouring concrete?

Start by clearing the area of debris and leveling the ground. For most projects, a compacted gravel base (10 - 15 cm deep) provides a stable foundation. You’ll also need to set up formwork using wooden boards to shape the concrete and prevent it from spreading. Make sure to include any necessary reinforcements, like rebar or wire mesh, if the slab needs extra strength.

Please provide us with more details and we'll be happy to provide you with specific guidance on site preparation.

How long does concrete take to set and cure?

Concrete begins to set within a few hours, but it takes around 24-48 hours to harden enough to walk on. Full curing for maximum strength takes about 28 days. However, you can remove formwork and handle light loads within 1-2 days. Avoid heavy loads and protect it from extreme weather until it’s fully cured.

Please provide us with more details below and we'll provide you with guidance on concrete setting and curing.
